Review of New Port Richey, Florida

New Port Richey
Star Rating - 7/11/2010
We will have lived in New Port Richey, Florida for 3 years this upcoming November. We find the climate, the people, churches, fellowship groups, medical attention, shopping, and anything else we may need inimitable as far as our needs go. We hope to continue living in this wonderful area forever.

There is one thing I am trying to find out about this area though. Due to the tragic oil spill, I wonder how the air quality is here and what are the chances of all these gases people are talking about coming here. Does anyone know?

with all respect. for the life of me. I do not understand. how you could possibly say this. about New Port Richey. i will try and understand out loud. true, there are more church's here per population then most anywhere.like a bible belt thru the north central part of the west coast of florida. mostly born again and evangelical. most of the main stream church's are slowly fading. there membership is aging, mostly late 60's 70's 80's 90's year old. there are alot of non denominational (independant) christian church's that come and go. with phoney minister's, pastor's, etc. all self appointed. climate ! to each there own. but this forum is for out of towners. so tell it like it is. summer is very very hot and humid. winters here have been very very cold. especially last few years. i mean cold. low's of 38 are not un common. and, that is not with wind chill (feel like). very wet cold. shopping, the mall of this area is about to close. you have to drive south about 45 minutes or go east about the same for a mall and or outlet shoppiing. for medical care, yes, there are 3 hospitals within easy driving distance. for doctors, there are average amount, mostly geared to the elderly. oil spill/gases ? i do not know anything about that and it has not been in our regional or local news. as far as a local concern. if i was considering moving to Florida? I would absolutely stay away from this area. CHECK OUT THE CRIME RATE HERE FOR A TOWN POPULATION OF AROUND 18,000. and that is what is reported. there is a ton of incidents that are not reported. one of the reasons is for the benefit of people like yourself to think you will be safe when you move here. because no one else is moving here. except people who are low income WHO RENT. AND I'M AN ADVOCATE TO HELP THEM. but i'm honest. good luck in finding your spot. for all who read this. by the way the people here are awful. did you see 60 minutes a couple week's ago. this town is the New Port Richey they had the special on. Pill Mill capital of the whole United Sates. many many people here are mentally messed up and sadly, they themselves do not care. they are rude, ignorant, uneducated etc. and do not want to change. if you want quality of life. stay away from the city of N.P.R

@ AJ.. "except people who are low income WHO RENT " I resent your "assumptions" I rent & believe me I am NOT LOW INCOME.. I rent because that is what I choose to do & its much easier when you are a single senior woman to rent & not have to worry about repairs & updates.. So please keep your "incorrect assumptions & bias" to yourself.. BTW this entire state of Florida is known as the "pill mill capital" dealers & pushers come from all over to buy their pills here in case you haven't read the papers lately.. TIA
